Nina Rideout’s guitar playing has been described as “enchanting” and audience reactions are often enthusiastic and warm. Her beautiful sound and ability to perform with the utmost sensitivity have been widely praised.
As a soloist, Nina has performed at The National Gallery, Romsey Abbey, Mottisfont (National Trust) and County Hall London, to name a few. She was also part of a guitar duo, with Derek Hasted – and they performed together under the name “Nina & Frederek”. This is now on ice, as Nina is concentrating on her solo career.
Nina studied guitar with Carlos Bonell, Professor at The Royal College of Music, as a private student, and also Roland Chadwick, composer, solo performer, member of the Modern Guitar Trio. She’s also studied with Gilbert Biberian, Professor at Trinity College of Music, whilst reading music at London University.
Recently, her video of To a Wild Rose was selected by The MacDowell Colony in USA, for display on Edward MacDowell’s own page of the Portable MacDowell website. Early on, she won The Guitar Recital Cup at the Southampton Music Festival.
“Nina’s guitar music is very sensitively played creating a wonderful soothing and atmospheric experience – ideal for relaxing and unwinding whilst being suitable for so many different occasions. It was great to have Nina as part of the 2017 Romsey Festival”
Liz Wagner, Vice Chairman Romsey Festival 2017
Nina holds a first-class degree from The Open University, achieving Distinctions in all graded modules and is a member of The Incorporated Society of Musicians.
She’s played in masterclasses, with internationally acclaimed performers, including Alirio Diaz, Roland Dyens, Stepan Rak, Ben Verdery, Nigel North, Gary Ryan and William Kanengiser.
Nina’s guitar journey began when she was 10, with Tristram Cary, (nephew of composer Tristram Cary, pioneer of electronic music and a composer of music for BBC TV’s “Doctor Who”). In her teens, she was taught by Myer Rosen.
A bit of trivia: Nina’s family is very musical and her parents decided to name their new baby, after the 1960s Danish-Dutch singing duo, Nina & Frederik, depending on whether a boy or girl was born. Nina, it was!

Functions and Restaurants
Nina can provide a pleasant musical accompaniment for guests in your restaurant, cafe, or at special events.
Nina could perform at your soirée, or give a house concert. She can play for people who may have less access to live music too, like people in sheltered accommodation.
Nina is based in Winchester.
She performs in Hampshire – and surrounding areas.
Typically, Nina performs for two hours, (including a 30-minute break), but this can vary, according to the type of event. She has an electro-classical guitar too if amplification is required. This can be plugged into a venue’s PA system, but if one is not available, she has her own amplifier (that can run off batteries).
“Nina was the perfect entertainment for my photo exhibition event. The music was soothing, elegant and the wonderful sound quality gave us all an elevated feeling of well-being. Easy to talk over at a social event (I hate having to shout) Nina turned up bang on time, was presentable, courteous and played beautifully. Happy to recommend her“.

“Nina is a wonderful classical guitarist playing the most beautiful music. Her soothing tunes are a perfect accompaniment to any function either to stop and listen or as a calming background sound. She makes any gathering extra special and certainly enhanced our evening celebrating the opening of our newly refurbished Visitor Information Centre“.
